My years onboard USS Canopus (AS-34) were good ones. I worked with a lot of good people, and although some had been heroes, being a hero wasn’t part of the job description. But that wasn’t the case on the original Canopus (AS-9). Being a full-time hero was definitely part of the job description for the brave men stationed on Canopus during the first five months of WWII. Click here to read about “The Ship the Enemy Couldn’t Sink”.
